摘要:In this talk I will discuss a number of physical gauge field theory system leading to partial differential equations, which allow topological solitons as solutions. I will consider Abelian Maxwell, non-Abelian Yang-Mills, Abelian and non-Abelian Chern Simons gauge theories with fundamental matter leading to elliptic equations describing vortices. These vortices are all described by the first homotopy group, but in the non-Abelian case, classically, moduli spaces emerge. I will discuss an interesting limit leading to lumps in CP^{N-1} and other sigma models. Other examples of interesting equation coming from solitons are monopoles and instantons with are described by the second and third homotopy group, respectively, as well as domain wall systems (which are described by the zeroth homotopy group). The last example I will discuss, is the Skyrme-like theories giving equation describing Skyrmions which are 3-dimensional solitons characterized by the third homotopy group.

Sven Bjarke Gudnason, 1982年生,丹麦人。2010年在意大利比萨大学物理系获得物理学博士学位。2010年至2013年在耶路撒冷希伯莱大学拉卡物理研究所做博士后。2013年至2015年在北欧理论物理研究所做博士后。现就职于中国科学院近代物理研究所,副研究员。其主要研究领域是理论物理。在国际著名期刊 Internat J. Modern Phys.、J.High Energy Phys、Phys. Lett. B、Nuclear Phys. B、 Phys. Rev. D等杂志上发表学术论文40余篇。同时他还担任JHEP, Nucl.Phys.B, Phys.Lett.B, J.Phys.A, Int.J.Mod.Phys.A, Annales Henri Poincare and Physica Scripta 等国际知名杂志的审稿人。另外他本人掌握多国语言,除了丹麦语和英语,还懂得意大利语、德语、希伯莱语、瑞典语,目前在学汉语。
